Who We Are

Genesis of Good Samaritans Ministries, Inc. has served the greater Columbus OH community since September 2013. At Genesis, we believe that God cares about the “WHOLE” man - BODY, SOUL AND SPIRIT. …and so do we…. 

Genesis is a faith-based, 501C3 non-profit organization providing community outreach services, connecting individuals with needed programs & resources, facilitating workforce development programs and providing volunteer opportunities. Our programs are designed to take a holistic faith-based approach to community service. We endeavor to be a Hand Up and Not Just a Hand Out. 

Genesis exists to serve and to encourage others to do the same.

Our Leadership



The Smiths have over 30 years experience serving in various positions within the church from Usher to Youth Pastors,  Co-Pastors and Senior Pastors. They have provided spiritual, emotional, marital and financial counseling for members and others within their sphere of influence. They have developed and coordinated youth programs and activities including retreats and conferences; designed and operated Summer youth programs; trained and facilitated courses for individuals of all age levels on such topics as drug and alcohol abuse, community violence, teenage pregnancy, drop out prevention, career exploration, job readiness and career development, budgeting, and interpersonal-relationships. Throughout the years they have served on numerous non-profit and church boards addressing issues governing daily operations, strategic planning, budgeting, facility expansion, and program development. They have a love for Christ, a passion to serve and a purpose to fulfill. They have been married for 34 years and had a hand in raising eight children, and still counting.

Sheila was born and raised in Columbus, OH. She Grew up in the Southfield community and has been a Civic Organizer there for over 15 years. 

- Past trustee of the Marion Franklin Civic Association

- Held a seat on Mayor Mike Coleman’s Coalition for a Non-Violent Columbus

- Past Board Member for Youth for a Positive Image

She has 25 years of Insurance Claims experience and currently holds the position of Field Specialist for a major Automotive Manufacture.

Damien Johnson

Community Participant Representative/Historian

Each year we ask one of our participants to serve as a community representative. Damien has also served as our historian for 3 years and has been responsible for capturing our history in pictures and video.
